Online Dry Land Block 1

UWA West Coast Swimming Club, Sat Apr 4, 2020 12:49PM

We hope you are keeping safe and well.

It's only been a few short weeks and all our lives have been dramatically changed by COVID-19.

Squads have been cancelled, schools have closed and for those of us lucky enough to still be employed, we are mostly working from home.

During this period of change, the club is keen to maintain the close bonds of friendship that our swimmers have developed with their squad and coach, as well as retain their fitness.

The safest way to do this is online.

The club has organised 45 minute virtual dry land sessions

which will run Monday to Friday.

  • Michael Shaw - PN squad
  • Rob Palfery- DN squad
  • Warren Paynter - EN squad
  • Ryan Spencer - Junior squads

If parents would like their swimmer to participate in the program, they will be asked to contribute a monthly (4 weekly) flat fee of $60 per child, (same price whether you attend 1 session or 5 sessions/wk, similar to current squad fee arrangements) paid directly to UWA West Coast Swimming Club.

100% of fees collected will be paid to the coaches.

UWA Sport is not involved with the organisation of these sessions or paying the coaches.

This is an initiative by UWA West Coast Swimming Club.

Once you have paid the monthly fee of $60 per child, via the Club Uniform Store link, you will be given the access code for the Cisco WebEx log in.

Each day, the swimmers will log in from home

to a squad specific WebEx meeting and go through the dry land program with their coach.

PN Squad schedule

7am Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri

4pm Wed

DN Squad schedule

6.45am Mon-Fri

EN Squad schedule

7am Mon-Fri

Juniors (Junior Gold and below)

4.30pm Mon-Fri

The sessions will begin Monday 6th April.

If your swimmer would like to participate, please register and pay via  this link in the (updated) club uniform store by Sunday 5th April 3pm

We have split the program into separate squads, to ensure small group sizes and a suitable level for the swimmer's ability, so please make certain to sign your child up for their correct squad, according to their current enrolment. (We will be cross checking with our squad lists).

Once $60 payment has been received, the WebEx login will be sent for use for Monday 6th April to Friday 1st May.

We understand this is a difficult economic time for many families. If your family is experiencing financial stress, please send a confidential email to Pierre the club treasurer (treasurer@uwawestcoast.org) for committee consideration.

We hope as many of our swimmers will get on board with this program so that they stay fit and engaged with their squad until we get to the other side of the lockdown.
