Building on the Club's Successes
The Vision for West Coast Swimming Club
& What we Need to do NOW

Our swimmers know which direction they are going in .... up, down, up, down up down up down .... in their own lanes
But what they ultimately get out of it is dependent on the direction of the club now and as we look towards the future
A review of our internal and external strategy has been undertaken and we would like to share it with all members and discuss ideas as to how we could shape our future
This presentation on The future direction of West Coast Swimming Club will be held in The Lecture Theatre @ HBF Stadium on Monday afternoon at 6.00pm

2015 Short Course Calendar & Almanacs

The 2015 winter Short Course Season Meets are all posted on the SWA Website Calendar and can be viewed by scrolling through the months
The 2015 Winter almanac detailing all of the seasons meets is still available for pre-ordering @ $16 if you pick it up or $20 to be mailed to you. Orders will close in the next day or so and delivery will be by Mid May

Geraldton Short Course Classic

Held over the Western Australia Day long Weekend 30^th - 31^st May, 2015 @ Geraldton Aquarena, Pass Street, Geraldton
Racing starts early afternoon on the Saturday to allow time to travel there
Saturday: Warm up from 11.00am; racing starts @ 12.30pm
Sunday: Warm up from 8.00am; racing starts at 9.00am
It’s a great meet for families to get together away from our home pool and for swimmers to register some early season SC times
Entries close on Wednesday 20^th May. The club encourages West Coast swimmers to register early to enable us to make appropriate decisions about coach representation at the meet

2015 West Coast Short Course Challenge
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED NOW

The West Coast Short Course Challenge will be on 8^thAUGUST 2015
This will be a whole-of-club participation event; so mark the date in your calendars
Warren Player is the Meet Director for the West Coast Challenge and is co-ordinating all of the planning for the meet.
The success of the meet requires the help of ALL West Coast families. There are numerous volunteer roles that must be filled in the lead up to the meet and on the day itself. The attached volunteer roster sets out the tasks for the meet. Please review the roster and notify Warren of your preferred role on meetdirector@westcoastswimclub.com.au

Spot prizes and raffles play a big part of our fundraising efforts on the day. As always, we will need members to donate raffle prizes. It is not too early to start accumulating your raffle donations. Further details will follow on collection points for donations

2015 West Coast Short Course Challenge: Get Involved
Sponsor a Race

The West Coast short Course Challenge is our major fundraiser that supports the operations of our club and our swimming, fitness and education programmes
Businesses and families have the opportunity to raise awareness by sponsoring a race. When you and/or your business sponsor a race your name and/or business card / logo will appear in the meet programme and will be featured on PA announcements throughout the day
The cost is $200 per race. There are now only 6 races available for sponsorship:
200 IM, 200 Fly, 100 Free, 200 Free, 200 Back and 1500 Free
To get involved and support your club please complete the sponsorship form and email it to Warren Player on meetdirector@westcoastswimclub.com.au to confirm your race

TRAINING & COACHING INFORMATION

Schedule Changes

The "normal" schedule is now back in place for all squads other than NA

NAP members who attended National Age Championships are NOT expected back to light training until Monday 11^th May. The NA / NAP crossover sessions will resume when NAP is back to their full training schedule
Rob Palfery has been offering a limited number of OPTIONAL sessions to NAP squad members through this week. The last of these is on Saturday morning from 05.30 - 07.30am. Sessions from 11^th May to be advised directly to NAP squad members
You will all be happy to know that through the winter, morning sessions for all squads will be moved to the indoor pool from 29^th June

Squad Placements

Squad structures and squad placements remain under review by the coaching group
Swimmers who will be affected by changes in their squad placement will be notified in due course
Until notified of any changes, swimmers should continue swimming with the squad they have been with over the past few months

Swimmers' distribution list for Pool Deck News

As a move towards our swimmers' taking increased "ownership" of their swimming, we would like to include the swimmers on the Pool Deck News distribution list.

If you would like your swimmer(s) added to the pool deck distribution list encourage them to give their email address to their coach or forward the to penny@westcoastswimclub.com.au

Alternatively, you can add your student's email address to the database yourself through your West Coast account. Just go to the "My Account" tab on the website, or click on the short cut link below, and on the "My Students" tab enter the email address(es) for your child/children.

The email addresses will be input to the secure membership database and not passed on to any third parties. They will only be used for the mailing out of the Pool Deck News.
