ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
-
How To Deal with Failure. Everybody fails at some point. Even the swimming greats fail. But, what akes them succeed in the long term is being able to deal with failure. Olivier Poirier Leroy considers how we can use failure in the pool to our advantage. Click here to read the full article
-
If you come across any relevant articles that you'd like to be added to our library under the Articles & Information subtab that sits under News tab on the website so everyone can read them, please email them to Penny on communications@uwawestcoast.org
- All articles will be vetted and endorsed by our coaching staff prior to being posted

OTHER CLUB INFORMATION
Calling all Creative Swimmers to Design our new Bathers
- UWA - West Coast needs its own identity
- We have received a number of great designs for the application of the club name. Feedback will be provided soon. We are in need of further input for the design of club bathers.
- The primary constraints on the bathers' design is that they must use the club colours blue, green and gold. If the university logo is used, it must not be defaced in any way. To help you work wit these constraints ,please refer to the logo design guidelines file
Club/Squad Only Memberships
- The Club only membership option is now available
- All former West coast squad only members can now become Club Only UWA - West Coast Swimmming Club members at a cost of $25 per swimmer plus $25 for a parent member. This entitles your swimmer to compete a 4 club nights per year and take part in all other club functions
- The Club Only option does not allow swimmers to compete at SWA sanctioned meets. For this, you need to take out a full, annual SWA membership
- Note that former West Coast squad only members will need to follow the New Member links as the former squad only membership has lapsed.
Volunteers Needed for Vacant Committee Positions
- We would like to fill the vacant positions (fundraising co-ordinator and social director) as soon as possible
- Any member interested in finding out more and possibly taking up one of these positions, is invited to email the committee via penny@westcoastswimclub.com.au or talk in person to any of the committee members listed above when you see them around at the pool
- With each of these roles, there is also scope to volunteer as a small group of friends to share the workload and make it more fun
Fundraiser: Chocolates
- UWA-West coast are about to launch a chocolate fundraiser
- As part of the nationals fundraising efforts, we expect all nationals competitors to sell at least one box of chocolates. Each box contains 50 bars of Cadbury's chocolates to be sold @ $1 each
- Chocolate boxes will be available for collection at Club night on 4th February
- Any other swimmers who would like to sell chocolates to raise funds for the club (in general, not just the nationals trip) are also welcome to join in; just email communications@uwawestcoast.org by Thursday 28th January and advise how many boxes you would like to sell
Swimmers' distribution list for Pool Deck News
As a move towards our swimmers' taking increased "ownership" of their swimming, we would like to include the swimmers on the Pool Deck News distribution list.
If you would like your swimmer(s) added to the pool deck distribution list encourage them to give their email address to their coach or forward the to penny@westcoastswimclub.com.au
Alternatively, if you are a former West Coast member, you can add your student's email address to the database yourself through your West Coast account. Just go to the "My Account" tab on the website, or click on the short cut link below, and on the "My Students" tab enter the email address(es) for your child/children.
Click here to go to the "My account" page
The email addresses will be input to the secure membership database and not passed on to any third parties. They will only be used for the mailing out of the Pool Deck News.
