Go Damian & Tamsin
Everyone at West Coast wishes two of our rising young stars, Damian Fyfe & Tamsin Cook, all the very best as they fly out to Hawaii tomorrow as members of a 31-swimmer Australian team competing at the “2014 Junior Pan Pacific Championships” in Maui, Hawaii.
Damian & Tamsin are both members of the Podium Performance Centre’s High Performance squad training under PPC head coach Michael Palfery, who is also travelling to Hawaii as one of the team coaches. The Australian team will be taking on some of the very best young talent from the United States, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
They fly out to Queensland tomorrow where they will meet up with the rest of their team mates and get the opportunity to be inspired for a few days as they watch the senior Australian swim team take on the some of the best swimmers in the world at the Pan Pacific Championships, which gets underway on the Gold Coast this week.
Damian & Tamsin then jet off to Hawaii on Saturday where they will spend a few days getting acclimatised before the “Junior Pan Pacific Championships” get underway on Thursday the 28th of August. Both swimmers are expected to compete in the individual 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle events as well as the Australian relay teams.
It’s been a very successful year for the champion West Coast duo having won multiple Gold, Silver & Bronze medals at the National Age Championships in April. They both followed up their medal-winning form at an international level, representing Australia at the Oceania Championships held in New Zealand in May.
Good luck to Damian, Tamsin and Michael for a great meet. Everyone at West Coast will be cheering loud & proud.
