UWA WEST COAST AFFILIATION
PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS
SATURDAY 26th SEPTEMBER @ 08.00am, Lecture Theatre, HBF Stadium
SATURDAY 26th SEPTEMBER @ 08.00am, SSEH, UWA Campus, Crawley
Most current members would be aware that West Coast Swimming Club has been investigating:
- Merging West Coast’s coaching business with Uniswim to become a single entity managed through Uniswim’s existing management structure
- Merging the two clubs into one Club, which would manage the community and competitive aspects of the squad swimming program
- The University’s Department of Sport Science Exercise & Health and the new Club would oversee the Uniswim business through an active Board. The Board will set strategy, goals and objectives for the business. A General Manager and a Coaching Panel will execute the strategy and report to the Board
The objectives of this new and exciting relationship are to:
- Provide financial stability for the squad program and for the School through enhanced economies of scale, flexibility of operations and growth
- Create an end-to-end swimming pathway that will create the best environment for swimmers, both junior and senior, to fulfil their swimming needs
- Build on existing success and traditions to confirm the new combined Club as the premier swimming club in Western Australia and consistently be one of the top 10 clubs in Australia
To provide you with further details of the proposed merger and how it will affect you and your swimmers, we are holding two simultaneous information sessions this coming Saturday for all UWA and West Coast members, one at HBF Stadium and one at the UWA, Crawley Campus as detailed above. The sessions will be presented by representatives from both clubs and delivered to the collective membership. The content of both sessions will be the same. Members can attend either session.
A supporting FAQ document will be posted to the website to address some of the more common questions/concerns suurounding the merger towards the end of this week. There will be opportunity in the meeting for further clarification and to raise any other questions that you may have.
MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS
Membership renewals are due for all current West Coast members. The membership fee strcuture for West Coast members has been retained at the same level as last year, even though the club's financial return has been reduced slightly as a result of an increase in Swimming WA's affiliation fee.
Members who renew now will not incur any additional membership fee should West Coast merge with UWA Swimming Club.
Details of the swimmer and parent membership categories will be detailed in the membership renewal notice along with the online link to re-register. This membership renewal notice will be posted on the news feed of the West Coast website early tonight/tomorrow.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
All of the Relay Reserves from Open & Age States - Many turned up and a few got to swim. We know it can feel like a thankless task having to turn up and then not swimming, but when suddenly needed the reserves make the difference between a relay team being able to swim or not swim. Special mention must go to Maggie White who was sitting comfortably in the stands with a tub of hot chips when she got the 11th hour summons to swim in a relay. After a phone call home and a mad dash by Dad to produce her swimsuit, Maggie enabled a relay team to compete.
MEET INFORMATION
2015 West Australian Newspaper State Age & Open SC Championships : Wrap Up

-
West Coast put up an awesome performance over the weekend at the Age / Open State titles. The final point score was Perth City 1st with 914.5, West Coast a close 2nd with 793 and Breakers 3rd with 635.5. To put that in perspective, Breakers had more swimmers and swims than us and Perth City had 50% more swimmers and swims than us. Pound for pound we more than held our own. This is also reflected in the fact that 99 records were broken over the weekend with 38 of those marks being lowered by West Coast swimmers and teams. We were well represented in the finals with boisterous support from our parents and team mates (WC were noticeably louder than other teams!). The many fine West Coast swims resulted in a slew of PB's and medallists. The results are a testament to the work put in by our athletes and coaches and the fantastic support of our parents. Great stuff West Coast!
- Congratulations to all of our individual medal winners: Jessica Algar, Robert Bonsall, Tom Cumming, Joshua Edwards-Smith, Blair Evans, Ashleigh Glover, Ross Goodison, Joel Hill, Zac Incerti, Alex Milligan, Sian Munks, Ethan O'Donnell, John Shepherd Raife Sillence, Beatrice Tay, Alex Tincombe, Braga Verhage, Sophie Yaksich
- Congratualtions to all of our relay team medal winners:

Men 15/O 4x100 Medley Relay Gold 3:41.42
Zac Incerti, Alex Milligan, Braga Verhage, Damian Fyfe
- An impressive 99 records were broken at the meet overall. West Coast Swimming Club (WES) dominated the record tally, with six of its swimmers, Braga Verhage, Alex Milligan, Blair Evans OAM, Joshua Edwards-Smith and Raife Sillence, breaking an impressive 38 records between them. WES swimmers broke another four records in the relays. Click here to read the full details of the records broken
- Congratulations also to Sian Munks, Tom Cumming and Braga Verhage who have been selected as a member of the 2015 Swimmer’s World WA State Team, to compete in Canberra later this month (Sept 25-27) at the 2015 State Teams Short Course Championships

Consistency is the least glamorous of training habits and yet it is by far and away the one that should be getting your full and undivided attention. Being successful in the pool isn't some secret; It does not come down to the latest and greatest swimsuit. At the end of the day it boils down to who can best wield their talents and skills on a consistent basis in training. Will you be the swimmer that prides themselves on being consistent? Click here to read the full article detailing 5 tricks to help you become more consistent in training
