UWA-West Coast Short Course Challenge

The UWA West Coast Swimming Club appreciates the contribution being made by parents and supporters who are volunteering their time to support the Club’s major fundraising event, the UWA West SC Challenge on Saturday the 6^th August at HBF Stadium.

We have a unique opportunity to showcase our Club to the WA swimming community with over 420 competitors registered in nearly 2,000 individual events.

Warm-ups start at 8am with racing from 9am to 6pm. Venues West will open the gates to the public at 7:30am.

Volunteer Rosters

For those people who have volunteered for pool-deck or event administration roles, please review the volunteer roster to confirm your duties for the day. It would be terrific if everyone could wear a club t-shirt or polo shirt whilst you are working in volunteer roles. All pool-deck volunteers are asked to be at the venue by 8am for an 8:15am briefing.

If you are not one of our pool-deck or event administration volunteers, then please check the Timekeeping Roster to confirm your lane assignments and times.

Volunteers who have already agreed to assist Suzie Johansen with venue set-up & raffle tables should liaise with her directly 0400 824 286 to confirm arrival time details. All other queries can be directed to Rachel Tincombe on 0408 946 921.

Bathers have arrived

The much anticipated wait for our new UWA-West Coast Bathers is finally over!

Stock has arrived for Ladies & Girls Bathers, Boys Jammers and Mens Club Cut Briefs

In the lead up to our own hosted meet, the UWA-West Coast Challenge next Saturday 6^th August, the Uniform Shop on Pool Deck at HBF will be OPEN EVERY DAY Monday 1^st to Friday 5^th August from 4 - 5pm

Wear the club shirts in the stands, wear the new bathers in the warm up pool .... show the swimming community that we are a team.

New Stock Coming Soon - Full range of sizes now available for pre-order

New stock of hoodies, jackets, shorts, trackpants and t-shirts have been ordered. In the store you will now see two products for each of these items: one denoted as "In stock now" and one as "coming soon". If the size you would like to order is not available on the "in stock now" option, lease select the 'coming soon" option and place your order there. The ETA for the new inventory is currently early September.

Personalisation of Jackets & Hoodies

For swimmers who would like their Hoodies, Jackets or T-Shirts personalised, we are pleased to offer embroidery by The Fabric Printer. The Fabric Printer have been advised of fonts, colour, location and size for names. Click on the jacket to view the enlarged detail.

2017 NATIONALS Fundraiser

The Swan River Run, Sunday 24^th July

A huge THANK YOU to all those who turned out at 6am last Sunday on the coldest morning of the year (starting at 2^oC) to volunteer at the Swan River Run.

We fielded teams at 2 drinks stations; one on the banks of the Swan River and one in King's Park.

All did a great job and raised valuable funds for the 2017 Nationals Trip.

UWA-West Coast will have another, significantly warmer, opoortunity to field volunteer teams to the Pink Triathlon in November to add to the Nationals Trip fundraising effort.

Watch this space for the call for volunteers over the cming months.

Meet Calendars

The targeted meet calendar highlights the meets & club nights that form an integral part of the training program for each squad as indicated. Coaches will be in attendance at all targeted meets. Swimmers should make every effort to attend the targeted meets. If, you are unable to attend any of your targeted meets, please discuss alternatives with your coach.

The full schedule of meets through the season can be downloaded for reference/planning.

If you have any doubt/queries over what events your swimmer should enter at any meet, please speak with your coach.

Volunteer Rosters

Volunteer rosters are posted on the website at least a couple of days ahead of any meet. Invariably all families that have swimmers competing at any meet will be rostered on for timekeeping or other volunteer duty.

Please note that the meet can only proceed with all volunteer roster positions filled. If you have any problems with the timing of your assignment, please use the Members’ directory to engineer a swap to a more convenient time. If you require a password to access the directory, please email communications@uwawestcoast.org

Please note that if you withdraw from a meet, please notify our timekeeping co-ordinator via email timekeeping@uwawestcoast.org so that you are not assigned volunteer duties at the meet as well as notifying Swimming WA / the Host Club.

All junior squad swimmers are invited to participate at these club nights.

To be eligible for Junior Club Championship awards, swimmers must be full "competitive" club members. Contact registrar Jenn Chong-Sue via registrar@uwawestcoast.org ASAP if you are a "club only" and would like to convert your membership to a full "competitive" membership or if you are a Uniswim squad swimmer who would like to take out a "competitive" club membership ahead of these events.

2016 Australian University Games

All members who are enroled students at UWA are invited to be art of Team UWA at the 2016 Australian University Games.

Click HERE to enter. Entries close THIS SUNDAY 31^st July due to uniform order processing times. Registration is $180 ($80 registration fee and $100.00 Team Spirit Bond, this bond is refundable if you abide by UWA Sport expectations and Code of Conduct). The registration fee covers Team Playing Uniforms, Team Polo Shirts, Professional Team Management, Facility Access, Leadership Training and a post event Team Function.

Friday 29^th July PM (Due to West Australian Newspaper Short Course Qualifying Meet #2 )

For all the HBF Squads: all afternoon Friday squad training at HBF will be held in the Outdoor 8 lane pool at their normal time schedules.

All Junior Squad training will operate as normal at UWA and St Mary’s for both Friday 29th and Saturday 30th July.

Saturday 6^th August (Due to UWA-West Coast Short Course Challenge)

No training for Junior Gold and the Emerging National squad training at HBF or UWA

PN & DN will train from 6.00 - 9.00am in the Outdoor 8 lane pool @ HBF prior to competing at the UWA-West Coast SC Challenge

Junior White, Green & Blue, Performing Fitness and Swim Fit will train at UWA as pre their normal schedule

Yoga Classes

The new format yoga / injury prevention class will now commence on Saturday 13^th August.

The focus will be on yoga/Pilates for injury prevention and will be run by Vicky Furk. Classes will follow on from Saturday morning training at UWA.

Payment timing and registration details to be confirmed.

UNISWIM - Administration / Coaching Reminder

Please be reminded that UNISWIM are the coaching provider and business administration body for UWA-West Coast. You will all have noticed the coaching staff uniforms that reflect this. More recently,HBF registered swimmers will have noticed that the billing system has finally changed. As envisaged at the time of the merger, this is the final step in our integration.

For any squad related matters (Coaching, Squad Fee billing etc) Meg is the prime point of contact. As Meg is part time, there may be occasions when she is unobtainable. In that event please direct your queries to Fiona at the UWA UNISWIM office. The contact details for Meg and Fiona are as follows:

We encourage swimmers to take increased “ownership” of their swimming and would like to include swimmers on the Pool Deck News distribution list.
